Whose dream?

We happen to experience dreams in our sleep.  There are so many theories on dreams.  Whatever be they may. The question is, who is the person witnessing it?   When I have a dream,  for example,  I am asleep with eyes closed and other senses off.  Practically, I am dead.  Then who sees the dream?                                                 They say it is the sub.conscious mind which is at work when we sleep.  But it is too abstract to comprehend.  We happen to  have colours and bright light in the dream.  Where does this light come from?                                                  The light is nothing but the luminous nature of soul which is the witness to the whole dream and not the visible (sthoola ) body.  The soul only undergoes the ramifications of dreams, be it painful or joyful.  We, the ordinary humans, have to undergo this process whereas the sages will not, for they would have achieved self-realistation.

  1. I would like to make corrections to my post 'whose dream'. The soul which is in the subtle (shookshma)body is the witness to the dream that takes place in our dream. We say what is outside is inside our body (five elements). The light outside is present in our subtle body which is the source of light that is seen in the dream and not the light of soul.
